It sounds like there was a third Kanye West signature model from Nike that never happened. In a piece at Complex celebrating the five-year anniversary of the Nike Air Yeezy 2’s release, a small shred of evidence of such a sneaker’s existence is offered.

“I heard word that the next shoe was already started,” recalls Esaie Witherspoon, former Global Product Line Manager for Nike’s ACG line and Men’s Athletic Training line. “When the rants started, I was like, ‘It’s a wrap…put a fork in it.'”

The rants referred to are West’s very public criticisms of Nike and CEO Mark Parker, which started in 2013 as his relationship with the global sportswear power soured.

West himself once tweeted about the project, writing on December 27, 2011, that he was working on sketches for the shoe. The since-deleted tweet is screenshotted below.
